Took this guy in late August, had problems getting the pictures up and I finally signed up with photobucket. First saw him in mid August when he was in velvet. I recently obtained permission to hunt on 40 acres of private property just west of Sooke. Ended up getting him just before dark on Aug 30. 20 yard shot behind the shoulder, he ran 50 yards and dropped 3x3 with guards and over 5 inch bases. Did a Europeon mount on him.

Nice looking deer, he's going to make for good eating that early in the season. Congrats and good luck on the rest of your season.

What did you do to get it so clean and still have the nose bones intact. I did a euro mount on a 4 point mule deer and after 2 hours of picking I fired up the gas pressure washer and gave it a full skull flush. Nose bones are in the lawn some place. Nice job, old boy by the looks of it.

Boil it till the meat comes off, then boil it again to clean it up. The nose usually falls off, glue it back on. Add a little baking soda to the water when boiling, a taxidermist told me that. Then peroxide the skull. As far as getting the brains out I just get the garden hose and flush it till they cone out.
