View Full Version : help with black bear in the kelowna area

Not trying to get anyone to give me there spot by any means but i was wondering if anyone had any tips on places to start looking for blackies or mulies in region 8 im located up towards joe rich on hwy 33 and just moved up here not too long ago and have minimal exp hunting 8 for anything i did take a spike last year and a moose off the connector the year before.
also anyone that knows of a bear and where it hangs out plz pm me.

Basically drive around the area where you are. Head up towards Big White and tour the roads off of the main one. Look for berry bushes and water. Good luck. In the spring, that is a nice area.

where you live, literally in any direction is good, three forks road, greystooks area, and could go on and on

I'm just on kirschner mountain i just dont really know the area well thats only reason i was asking proly best to look in the mornings too? with the hot days were having

Im in the same boat as well, just moved here. I did a lot of bear hunting on the island and they were every were. But here I have seen very little sign other that in my back yard. I got 2 on the trail cam in my yard. I live near the airport.

In the regs for region 8 it says you can only shoot a black bear on private land with landowners permission.

well its open season now in region 8.. private land is for the month of aug

Joe Rich area is great. Cardinal Creek up to James Lake, 15 mins from your house. Greystokes, 25 mins from your house etc... Get a map book and put some miles on. Go hike the new power line up near Big White.... You picked a good spot to move for hunting!
