We headed out on horses, crosses some rivers, made some campos and shot some game. Boonerbucks dad got a moose.

I barely held fire on a squeaker ram, and was counting points on elk when I shoudl have been shooting, and got busted by some unseen cows on one elk stalk on the Big Daddy Bull.

Lots of elk, moose, caribou around, not as many sheep. It was a good trip. Learning a Diamond Hitch was an interestign part of the trip!

Excellent pics makes me wish I was there and reminds me of the beauty of our north country. I wonder whose horses they were? It's an adventure just taking horses from the lower mainland up there a two day trip to get there. You must have put quite a bit of time and money into this trip. Other than jet boats and airplanes horses are the old traditional way to access the north country. Is this the trip in which you were injured? I guess the guy in the third pic is a local muleskinner you hired? Your trip has the look of a great adventure into the bush.8-)

We rented horses and gear form Blue Creek Outfitters.

They are a horse rental and educational company, NOT a guide or transporter.

SO they supplied the horses, instructions on packing and the horse tack etc. Then we were on our own to go whereever we chose to.:)

Much of the enjoyment of the trip (for me, anyway) was learnig new skills with horses and horse packing. I have been on horse trips before, and been on horses off and on much of my life, but this was more unique in that we had to do all the packing ourselves, so weighing boxes, proper saddle alignment, diamond hitches etc was all learned, and became second nature pretty quickly.

And of course, the third pic isn't a local muleskinner, it is just your humble servant, Gatehouse8-)
