Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to have liability insurance on an ATV? What insurance company would sell the liability insurance. I got a quote a few years ago for $1400.00. I told them they were nuts. Don't think they knew what they were doing. My truck insurance is cheeper than that.

with no BCWF membership roughly 100-140$ You get 10% of with BCWF. But if you just need it for hunting or fishing just get a BCWF membership becuse there insurance will cover you. I have fire, theft and liability for 450$ I think?

P.s. I have the Oasis open skies plan

Membership in B.C. wildlife federation comes with liability insurance for your ATV, but I think it's only valid if you're hunting or fishing, not sure how you prove that though.

I've always got my colapsible fishing rod in the back of my ATV for this exact reason;) I'm ALWAYS fishing when out on my ATV so the BCWF insurance is always applicable.

However the helmet clause thing concerns me..... How is one expected to smoke and drink through a helmet tho???

I'm just kidding, I never smoke and ride:)

I use Capri Ins.
About $140/yr.
BCWF does require you to be hunting & fishing to make their ins "valid".
So, as it has been said, put a fishing rod in your ATV trunk.

This has been hashed about ad infinitum in past.
Oasis and Capri offer reasonably priced liability coverage that will cover you all the time, not just while hunting or fishing.
The BCWF coverage is just for said activities and is for the member only, if your friend is using your ATV, too bad, so sad in the event of an accident. I wouldn't want to be trying to convince the Judge that I was "fishing" when I was in an accident coming back from the country store with a dozen beer, ice cream and the newspaper. But hey, yer Honour, I got my rod in the back.

I agree, insurance companies retain lawdogs, and I think they'd shred your claim if you were just out having fun
and got into an accident. For $100-125 a year the standard liability insurance is worth it...

But does the BCWF membership insurance cover you for driving on a FSR? Helmet required? What is the legal definition of a FSR?
