deer and water?

with it being really dry out and no sight of rain in my region i was thinking of concentrating on water holes, lakes, and creeks. does anybody have any pointers for a newbie. time of day. etc. ps im looking for whities and elk

early morrning or later evening at water holes, during the day bedded in the timber where its cooler and shady..... good luck.
