I shot a buck a couple days ago and would like to preserve the velvet on it. I have been careful to keep the antlers cool and in good condition.
A couple years ago I went to Natures Window in Agassiz to get them injected but when I called today it says their number is out of service.
A few other taxidermists I called all said they don't do little jobs like that.
I am wondering if anyone has tried preserving them themselves and what the way you do it?
The one taxidermist told me to get 'formalin' and soak them in that for a few hours. The other one told me just to let them dry in a cool place. Has anyone tried this or anything else?
