Does anyone have an idea of what the best time to hunt 7-35 for best chance to hit peak elk rut? I have about 5 days to hunt.

There are actualy 3, 28 day cycles according to the experts. If you leave your wife in the bush long enough she will be able to tell you when they are ;)

Ghillie , you live in the heart of some good country with a great season, talk to some locals and go for a few drives, hit the bush for a hike or two and you should find some elk somewhere , you live in elk heaven

I have a few spots in mind that I have from last year.. Busted a bull out of his bedding area by accident hehe, but I still have some tricks up my sleeve.. Was just wanting to know when the best time is for the elk to come busting in bugling.

Just got back from the Tetsa in 7-50. Elk are definitely not bugling yet. Didn't hear anything for a week and the local CO also said as much that nothing is happening. Been way too warm so far. I would aim for the latter half of Sept to get in the heart of the rut.

the two 6 point Bull elk killed( x2) by persons I know , in reg 7-49 last week ( Minaker and Prophet River areas were vocal/bugling/chirping, many areas have frost most nights in the lowlands, as here near Dawson Creek,

Just got back today from a 2 day trip.. The bulls we heard werent bugling but chuckling, and some other wierd noises / partial bugles. Definitely not human.
