Bad timing but this shouldn't affect Crater Mtn Access.

Ashnola Forest Service Road temporarily closed

VERNON – Travellers are advised that the Ashnola Forest Service Road in the Keremeos area will be closed at 18.7 kilometres and 32.9 kilometres due to the installation of two stream crossings from Wednesday, Sept. 7 through Friday, Oct. 14, 2011.

The work will include the removal of two existing wooden culverts and replacement with a larger steel pipe and concrete-slab structure to improve public safety.

One recreation trail on Easygoing Creek will not be accessible during the closure.

British Columbia’s 55,000-km network of Forest Service roads is bigger than the provincial highway system.

The closures are past the last big camping area...The Buckhorn.....It always amazes me how these closures are just before or during hunting season. Like there is no other time of year the work can be done. Guess Border Lk, and Young cr. will just have to wait till late in the year.

Gorman's no longer the Licencee in the area. LSIB manages that area now. Decision is made by Forest Service as the road is an FSR. Timing has to be within the working window for in stream work on a fish bearing stream, which is only in the Fall.

There would, of course, be no other reason than the Indians need to replace the culverts and asked for this time, OUTSIDE the fisheries window I might add, to do the work.

I'll say it again: our wildlife resources are being held hostage.

It also depends on funding issues, when the contract is put out for bid and fisheries windows drive a lot of this too.
