i was out scouting this mourning and saw 2 black bears together. both were quite large and at first i asumed it would be a sow and a boar but the smaller of the two looked to be about 250lbs. the larger was atleast 350-400lbs. i didnt think sows got this big. but as they walked into the timber they stood up and started play fighting and wrestling. nothing agressive just having fun as it seemed. could it have been 2 boars or do sows ocasionaly get this big?

What general region were you scouting?

I don't see why a sow couldn't get that big, especially if she's got a good supply of food.

I have killed sows that were over 6 ft and 400 lbs,

I have killed boars that were 5 ft and 200 pounds,

unless you tenderly feel between their rear legs ? there is no guarantee what their sex may be,,,,,,,,,,
