Im thinking about purchesing a win m70 extreme weather in .325wsm. Not sure what scope to go with it. I would try and keep the budget for rifle, mounts, and glass around $2000 taxes in. Rifle is in the $1100 area. Any thoughts?

I do have a elite 6500 2.5-16X42 on my .223 target rifle. that I was thinking I could put it on the .325 and get a new target style scope for the .223?

What are your thoughts?

p.s. And what do you think for rings and basses?

Talley lightweight rings and whatever Leupold scope your budget allows. My top choice for a scope is the VX III 2.5-8x36 or 3.5-10x40 but if that blows your budget go with a VX I or VX II in a 3-9x40. Guys are liking the new Redfields now that Leuopld makes them, it's hard to beat their warranty.

I just got the M70 extreme weather in 7mm RM, I went and put Talley lightweights and a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 with the Rapid Z 600 reticle on it. Pretty damned happy with it so far, still working on load development at this point, but it seems promising. Having never shot at much more than 100 yards before as my only rifles I owned prior were an unscoped M14 clone and a .22, I managed to hit the gong at a little past 300 yards at the range first try after sighting in at 200 and then using the holdover reticle to nail the gong, that put a smile on my face. Will be hitting the range again tomorrow to try out more loads and try to practice shooting from field positions as I have come to realize that I truly suck right now at off hand shooting : (

I have a Trijicon AccuPoint on 3-9x40 my Kimber Montana .325wsm and love it!... fast target acquisition in the darker thick timber. I also have Leupold VX II 3-9x40 on my 30 06 and have no complaints at all, the one thing I like about the Leupolds are the screw in o-ring sealed scope covers that lay flat down on the scope when opened, they're pricey but far superior than the plastic Butler Creek one's (junk) that like to pop up involuntarily and sometimes break off while hiking through thick brush.

I have a Leupold VX 3 3.5-10 X 50 Boone & Crocket on my A-bolt 325 WSM with the Leupold scope covers. I haven't had any problems.

Phrophet river seems to have the best prices on Leupold scopes, you could pick up some talley lightweights and a 3.5-10x40 VX3 and stay under your budget. The VX3 with the B&C retical is $670 from them, it was the best price I could find by a few bucks :)

I might have to check out a leupold and ziess side by side. What are your thoughts on the bushnell 6500 for taking recoil. I already hav e one but not to sure I want to put it on a 325

That is where I got my scope and rings from, Clay is an awesome guy to purchase from, bought my CZ 452 .22 from him as well.

Go and check both scopes out, both always get great reviews, I doubt you would be disappointed with either of them. I went with the Zeiss because I liked the constant eye relief and Rapid Z reticle better than the Leupold B&C reticle. I have heard rumors that the Zeiss glass is a little better too, but my eyes could not really discern much(if any) difference. On the flip side, the Leupold is a little lighter(VX3 3.5-10x40 vs. Conquest 3-9x40, difference of 4 ounces or so I.I.R.C.) and in the unlikely event that you need warranty work done I'd be willing to bet that the Leupold will come back much quicker.
