i just purchused a tatonaka external frame back pack and im trying to rig it out but i'm not sure on how to attach my rife to that pack so that its still easily accessible and comfortable. So far the gunbearer sling is that best thing ive seen so far but it doesnt look comfortable under your arm or with the barrel infront of your face. Any advise from others on how you pack your rifle would be appreiciated!

Do any local companies stock this Kifaru gunbearer? I'm in Vancouver.

I ran a Dwight Shuh external frame for a couple seasons. I was able to put one strap through the trigger gaurd and on around the top of the stock. Worked great. Eberlestock also sells an external gun scabbord..

Which model of Kifaru Gunbearer (short vs. long, hunting vs. tactical, etc.) would fit the Tatonka external frame pack best??

I went with the universal long military one. Its the best thing i could find to work. that back doesnt leave vary many comfortable options where you can get at your rifle fast. If you find somthing better let me know.

Ihave a tatonka and used a small hook from Canadian tire. The kind with red rubber cover, cost about two bucks, and have a length of about eight or ten centimeters. I attached it to the frame at the top right just below where the frame curves over. I used a small plumbers clamp to tighten it on and put a bit of tape over the whole unit. The rifle hangs on the hook by the sling. The butt can move around but I just tuck it behind my elbow if needed. Ive used this rig on many hunts and generally only hang the rifle when I'm headed in to the hunt or loaded with meat or when my arms are tired. It works pretty good and I've figured out how to get the rifle free in about three seconds.
After my last hunt the hook slid out from the clamp after multiple days. I'm going to modify the design so the hook is attached by more than friction.
