Talk to the school , or the local rcmp { you'll end up talking to them if you try it anyway }.

If the school is within the City limits check the city bi-laws to see if it is considered a firearm.
Bows are considered a firearm in Nanaimo.

Yup where i am too. Bows fall under the no shooting bylaw for the city i live in. be sure and check your local bylaws.

I have to admit the thought crossed my mind the other day when I was thinking how fun it was practicing at 70-90 yds at my old archery club....then I thought about the reality.
Youre better off driving into the country and asking a farmer to let you set up a target for the day.

I was told by a member of the RCMP in Sooke that it was OK to use the school yard - but as we all know, being told something by one officer doesn't mean that it's the gospel.

I believe it is governed by the local bylaws in each area/city/town. Best to check. With all the fuss and fufaraw in Kelowna these days it might be a lost cause for you.

As most have said, best to check your local bylaws....in mine, there are very strict bylaws and ridiculously heavy fines. It all comes down to liability. The Company I worked for had huge gravel pits, and they were nervous about me practicing in them even after hours because of the liabilities. I had to sign a waver.
