Anyone have any experience or have purchased the VX-R?? The red dot idea looks pretty cool but also want to make sure it is functional and doesn't actually cause an issue of some sort. Would I be better off with a VX3? I am going to go with a 40 mm size (for my 300 WSM) I was thinking in a 4-10...Any suggestions or comments??? Time to replace the 3200 Elite so hoping my choices provide better glass at long ranges, eye relief, and overall quality.....

VX-R's are Rad scopes. It is a Leupold Product, it is Guaranteed for life and it has the illuminated Retical. Very smart design and great functionality.

Bought one and love it, 4-12x40... Had it out to the range and shot it at all magnifications and brightness of the dot and it was flawless. Very clear and mine is a 30mm tube. I replaced my new VXII with it.

VxR 2-7x33 rides atop my 375 Ruger. Excellent scope, zero complaints

Now that these scopes have been out for a while what are your thoughts especially on their low light gathering capabilities.

I am looking at purchasing one of the 2-7X33mm with the LRV illuminated reticle #119409 for my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ I still-hunt thick extremely dark bush especially first light and last light for coastal blacktail shots maybe 10 yards to 250 yards.

I have a Leupold Compact 2-7X28mm scope mounted now the size of the scope is almost perfect for this super short carbine but the low light capabilities really suck.

Another thought is does the 30mm tube of this VXR scope gather light better than a 1" tube VX3 2.5-8X36mm I have a couple of these on other rifles and have been happy with them.

I'd appreciate any thoughts also if someone has a used one they want to sell I'd look at any of the reticle styles also want a set of Leupold 30mm PRW rings.
