Fishing Stave River

So i talked to my brother the yesterday, and he had been up the stave river the past few days and said he saw salmon jumping everywhere so we decided to go up there and try our luck thinking they were gonna be pinks. He hadn't hooked any the past 2 times he was up and he thought if i came maybe our luck would change.... Needless to say it didnt. they were jumping 2 feet away from the boat in about 10-12 feet of water we chucked every lure fly and bait we had and nothing. After a while we figured they must have been sockeye. is there a run of sockeye that go up the stave river? and shouldn't the pinks be in the fraser by now?

Were you fishing down by the train bridge? It could have been Sockeye coming in the river to clean their gills. There was a good push of them yesterday. Maybe your just beeks and cannot catch fish. :-D

Little early for pinks...they probably won't show in fresh water for a few more weeks
