prefered meat sack size

I'm going to make up some meat sacks for deer. What general size do you guys prefer? I was thinking around the size of pillow cases.

I always buy the biggest Game Bag's I can find, I use the Moose and Elk size on Deer so the Dam things cover the whole animal! I'd stretch the bag's out and make sure they'll cover a Deer completely before cutting it. The longer the better,just ask any Women Hunters!!!

take a single bed sheet, fold in half, sow 3 out of 4 edges...perfect game sack. Bigger is better IMO. You won't put more than a manageable amount of meat weight in it, but having extra room in it means you can spin the extra and toss it over your shoulder if you don't have room in/on your pack.

I used 2 meters of "unbleached white cotton" folded in half sewn along the bottom and one side with a draw string sewn into the top. Fit's a moose quarter nicely with only the ankle sticking out so you can tie it to the meat pole.

What Darksmith said. My wife sewed me up a bunch out of old sheets. I always have a pack full in the truck just in case.

The sheets work really good and are cheap to make as well, but if you don't mind spending a bit more, then try the canvas bags that the wall tent guys make. They are strong and last a long time.

A number of years ago I bought a roll of cheesecloth. Hundreds of feet I guess. I cut off 25 foot chunks and put them in a 6 or 8 inch zip lock bags. This is easily enough for a deer. I think there is enough to cover all 4 quarters of an elk. I think I have enough left that my kids and maybe grandkids will not need to buy any. I did sell some at $10 for 25 feet unstretched.
