Only about a foot of water in most spots, thats all or less that I need to get where I'm going. Little 5hp, may upgrade to another little 7hp for more top end.

Have you actually tried it out? Does the prop cavitate? Or is it designed to be only partially submerged?

Yes I've tried it out, there video in my first post. But I also used it one day during brant season. make a km trip there and back through the bay and tides. Not the best open water rig, more a flat back waters design but still did the job going through the shallows.

The designs go way back to the vietnam war,US soldiers seeing the rigs in use over there brought the design back home to run on the swamps and mud holes back in Arkansas and Lousiana. And they've been used ever since down there. Theres tons of companies in the states that make rigs like this but bigger and better. Just search mud motor on google and lots come up,

It works best with the prop probably submerged a foot, but you can still move around with the prop just in the water. Its a two blade design, and with the plate above the prop it keeps the water all around the prop so it doesnt cavitate.
