What secret local river, the Cow?

Yep, Not much a secret. I dont treat it like one either. But there is some water there you either have to know how to get to it by foot or drift to it. That Brown was the smaller one that day. My wife spent 12 min or so landing a good 20+ incher.

This time of year is usually good, the river drops enough so the boats cant get down and wet wading is key. Tonnes of water on that river that doesnt get hit.
And the tubers are only in part of that as well.

Such an incredible river to fish. Knowing the good spots is key.

Yep it is key to know where to go. But still, I fish Stoltz quite a bit when im camping. That place gets bombed by everything. And i manage to do quite well. You just need to go at the right time. I love that river, get on it and explore it.

We might be up there again this weekend. Its my wifes birthday on Friday. We are just tryin' to figure out where we are going to go, River Or Port Alberni Or Slab hunting in Ucluelet. Have you been able to make your way back up? I have honestly been trying to make time and give you a shout but all of July and the last of June has been nuts.

835 you're my hero.

Nice success on the Cow.!

It's one of the bodies of water that I've not had the time to figure out. I fly fish lakes alot and seldom get skunked. But the Cow. has spanked me many times!

So you're one of those guys that throws pots and pans! I look down at you through my snooty fly fishing nose :)

On the right day, a secret 5 km walk in the river down stream will have me land over 50 fish with 10 in the 4lb to 5lb range. What is the largest brown that you have landed? Not much over 5lb for me, I have had lots on that have broken the line, one looked to go around 8 to 10lb before it shook the hook.

Fishing the Cowichan might be the best idea for this weekend. I have a camping trip planned for port mcneill, leave tomorow morning, but I see wind warnings for all the island.

Well i couldnt accuratly tell you by weight. Only because i have fished that river ever since i could hold a rod. When i was chucking worms in there it was regular to get 24" fish. My uncle weighed a 7lb fish. But that was 20 years ago. On the fly i have beaced a few in the 5lb bracket over the years. The one my wife got that i cant resize the picture for was close to 5. There are some pools there that if you snorkle them ( Which im sure you have ) it will blow you away.

Honestly though i cant really tell you much about the size because we rarely have a camera or a tape measure. I need to get another flexible tape.
We may be going up there this weekend too. But its the wifes Birthday weekend so she gets to pick what we do.
