We are going into 7-26 this fall for a LEH moose hunt , never been in this mu before , i was suprised to see there is a 6 point elk season in there at the same time as our moose hunt, I have never heard or read anything about this area being a good elk location is there a good population in there ? worth carrying a tag ?
Thanks in advance:mrgreen:

I'd buy a tag. Lots of nice bulls taken out of 25 over the past few years, no reason why they're not in 26. Keep a hoochie mama in your pack in case you run into some hot elk sign

WE will be in there starting Sept23 for two weeks, My son lives in PG so hopefully he will be able to go in there and do some scouting before hand. we usually hunt 6-06 but the leh tags are down to only 9 tags for the rut so we decided to try a different area and were fortunate enough to get drawn :))

I'm not familiar this this area but I'm guessing if there is a GOS in an area it holds decent numbers so the real question is how would you feel sitting looking for your moose when a nice 6 point walks out and you didn't drop the $25 for a tag? Well at least you could have one of those stories about the big one that got away! If it were me it would be a no brainer even if just one of your hunting gets one. the trip is already going to cost a bundle...what's another $25?

good luck!

I also am heading in to 7-26 for a shared draw with the wife and father in law. Spent 10 days in there last year with no success. Didn't find any elk sign either. This year we will be there for the begging of October.

who hopefully just a odd experiance

I brought in a october 5th buck once to a very busy butcher shope it was cleaned skinned and wiped within 15minutes of taking it and was a head shot and I got it back I received a animal with inards and hair inside the packaging.

Are you sure it was his deer.

Thanks for the elk tip.
