Thought I would post the following in case people are out in the area. This was on the CBC.ca website

The RCMP in Smithers, B.C., are searching for two newlyweds from Britain who disappeared after leaving on a backcountry camping trip nearly three weeks ago.
Caroline and Ben Davies arrived in B.C. in June on a visit to family. The couple, who are both experienced in the outdoors, then borrowed a truck to head north toward Alaska to do some camping.
Their last contact with their family was on June 22 when they called from Smithers to say they were planning on renting some kayaks and meeting up with someone they recently met in the area.
They were scheduled to return to Vancouver on July 4, and were reported missing to police on July 10, according to Sgt. Rob Vermeulen.
Caroline is described as 28 years old, five feet three inches tall, 120 pounds, with brown shoulder-length curly hair and brown eyes, said police.
Ben is described as 37 years old, five feet 11 inches tall, 210 pounds, athletic build and brown short hair, said police.
The vehicle they were traveling in is a 2008 black Mazda B230 pickup truck with B.C. license plate AL 6943 with a unique and distinctive white camper canopy, said police.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the couple or their vehicle to call the Smithers RCMP at (250) 847-3233 immediately.

Just heard this morning that they have a fairly reliable tip that they were spotted near hope only yesterday. The current theory is that they were detoured by road closures or that they decided to extend their trip. They still have not contacted anyone and may not realize they are the subject of a search. The search continues though just in case the tip was not accurate.

If it was them simply extending their trip, its pretty irresponsible to change plans and extend your stay without informing someone.

Must've picked up a big bag of bc bud somewhere along the way. They apparently missed their flight home by a week and never even contacted the owner of the truck they borrowed.

went hiking on june 25-26 and stayed in the same cabin as them. contacted the police as soon as i heard they were missing, but they were found, without even knowing they were lost. i swear they told me they still had 3 weeks at that date.
