I have to agree, not very good at all. Cats are probably one of the toughest animals to get right, and yours is way off the mark. Has a cartoony look to it.

I take it that you don't think its right either?????? Why else would you ask what people think.

yes I had the Cat mounted, just got it back last week,
It was a spot and stalk, not treed,

I was talking to the Taxidermist about what facial pose, I personally am not a fan of the complete open mouth where you can see fake toungue etc, and I did not want exactly closed mouth, so he suggested partial open, so I can see the teeth,

I think maybe the ears are a little too low, my wife says it looks cross-eyed,

I dont want to say who it is, I feel it is putting him under the bus if that is how many here feel.

I think it looks a bit better in person, maybe the flash is too much....

the reson I was asking is I also have a lynx that I Spot and Stalked and have not yet started the work yet,

any help In uploading pics please, I cant seem to delete the files I selected in the upload manager here on HBC

It sort of looks puzzled, as if to say...Am I a vampire, or a kitty? Or am I a pirate, with one eye closed slightly and looking bigger than the other. And what happened to my other whiskers, did someone shoot them off? All I know is I am definitely purrrrrturbed.

Please tell us who did it. I have my bobcat skin with a taxidermist right now, and if its the same person, I would love to get it back before they start on it.

Hopefully you understood going in, what the outcome *could be*.
Maybe you were just trying to save some $$$.

Either way, it's off in left field playing a game checkers instead of baseball.

The eyes aren't set/focused properly.
The jaw seems to have twist, as does the snout.
Teeth don't seem to be placed correctly.

There's more but the above stated is more than enough......

Pending on what your deal was with the TaxiMan, I'd wanna full re-do. If you knew it was an experiment and the price reflected the outcome, it's a nice conversation piece!

If you don't mind it the way it is, I wouldnt worry, and anyone who hasn't ever seen a bobcat up close might not know theres anything wrong with it. If you dont like it, look into a redo, don't let anyone else make up your mind.

You might be right - it probably is better than what most guys on this site could produce. But chances are he paid for and expected to receive a professionally done mount - which that thing clearly is NOT.

Take it back to whoever did it and figure out some sort of solution.

A competent taxidermist like Frank Gilbert of Fur and Feathers in Surrey might be able to fix it. I've seen a 2 remounts he's done of Ganders work and they were night and day above what was brought in. Oh and Frank would not tell me who did the original work. But the owners od the mounts did.

Lets break this one down because we don't know who did the mount for you! Nobody wants to say it looks like crap but it does...A Taxidermist's job should be the best possible reflection of that animal in a natural state and setting. When you harvest the animal snap pictures galore...give a few to the taxidermist to work with! If your Bobcat was done by a newly practicing taxidermist and you got a steal on it, or experiment deal or whatever you should still point out to them that the mount is far from realistic! If the mount was done by one of the larger companies "some of which farm out their work to randoms..." than I would take it back and explain to them that the job was a botch! My dog wouldn't chase that tail!!
