It's hard figuring out the regs.
I plan on fishing around malcolm island and from what I see you can take 2 chinook 1 wild coho 1 hatchery for 2 no idea on sockeye 4 chum 4 pinks but only combo of 4 as normal. One large rock cod closure on the south tip of Malcolm island. Does anyone have some help? Does the dfo give you a run down of the area if you phone the local office?

What is it exactly that you are looking for??

This should give you all the info you are looking for including RCA's (LOTS OF THEM...but you'll see them as you scroll down) etc; there is an area map hotlink on there as well to break down the sub-areas.

This I believe is the one you're referring to near Malcolm.

I think the DFO has better things to do than sit on the phone giving individual fishermen a "run down" of the regs when they are readily available in print and online.:razz::tongue:

Anyone know if sockeye are open in this area and what a possession limit would be?
Any news on how the fishing might be?
Prawns or crabs?

Any and all changes/notices will be posted on the area 12 page as noted above.

I would suggest keeping an eye on it as the coho regs may change.....there will be any sockeye announcements also on that page.

So with nothing on the page for sockeye it is closed or is it 4 fish? All it says right now is to be announced. It takes alot of preperation to fish a new spot I picked up a marine chart and put the rockcod closures on it and now I'm making sure that I have the regs right. Not much info online for Port Mcneill.

Sockeye are not open.....you'll see a notice on that page when/if they are.

The total number of salmon you can catch in a day is 4....with a max of 2 springs.

Take note of all those coho notices as well.

I believe you can subscribe to get all the notices e-mailed to you......or you can just keep checking there.

You may want to join http://www.sportfishingbc.com/forum/ . There are a lot of guides/guys from the Island that post up on there and there is a "sticky" for north Island reports.

As for prawns and crabs.....I would suggest trying the usual types of bottom/structure/depths that you would normally do; not a lot of guys are going to give out crabbing/prawning areas on a wide open internet forum.
