I'm in the process of upgrading my safe, I'm looking at the Sentry GS 5343 I was wondering if anyone had one, had any opinions on it (like how rifles fit with scopes etc). I know it says 14, but they usually don't take into account scopes, slings etc. So I'd appreciate knowing it's capacity from a user.

Here is a link to it in case you are not sure of what I am talking about:

Any help you can give is appreciated.

Radar,
i don't have this exact safe, I bought the one from costco. Its about the same size, its got a lockable cabinet on the shelf for your ammo. right now I've got 2 shotguns, 2 22's, and three scoped rifles in it. I might be able to squeeze in one more scoped rifle. Hope this helps. cost was around $390.00

very happy with it!!!

I think 10 is more like a tru number....

I try to alternate rifle w/scope then 22 rifle with scope then shotgun etc.

the one you are looking at looks great... but how $$$

im sure costco will have the safes back this year... they were a big seller!

They don't seem to run out of them for very long in PG. I think that they are a hot item.

They had some safes at the Costco in Surrey a couple of weeks ago. I think you can check stock on Costco's website.

The costco in Kamloops has about 5 or 6 in stock as of Sunday afternoon. I think they are 429.00 plus you get a removable smaller safe with it. I have one of the ones that they had this spring(no removable smaller safe. It is still in its box as it was a birthday gift that I just recieved a month ago. In the midst of moving so though best to just leave it in its box until the new place comes available. It kills me everytime I see it in the box in the garage.

The only two I see on their website are:
http://www.costco.ca/en-CA/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=10294285&whse=&topnav=&cat= - $1599
and
http://www.costco.ca/en-CA/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=10294280&whse=&topnav=&cat= - $1399

I just called my buddy who is a manager in the langley store. He's going to let me know if there are any there...

For those of us on a budget, is anything wrong with the Stack-on cabinets at canadiantire?

BigHornBob thats funny I got my safe for my birthday in June and it's still sitting in the box on the garage floor as well. I just don't feel like setting it up till we find a new house.

FullDrawWe just bought a house just need to get a home insection et all done then we move in Oct. 30. Cant wait to unpack it.

I was down in Spokane last weekend and bought a safe dehumidifier for it.

Canadian Gun Nuts has a ton of great feedback on the safe from guys who have bought them. Info about airing it out, to changing the lock tumbler to make it stronger to ways to move it.

i also have the costco gun safe. great bang for your buck. it is really heavy though, so you might need someone to help you carry it.

When it is mentioned (I think it might even be a regulation) that firearms be stored unloaded, with the ammunition separate. Does that mean the ammunition needs to be in a separate safe? As in, one safe for the guns and one for the amo? That could be costly…
