Road hunt early morning along wet areas by a lake, stream, pond and marshes. Hunt late September you will see more action cuz the rut is on.
Good luck 2 u

Like Jelly said, the later in September you are hunting the more likely the moose will be moving about. Earlier in your season they will be holed up somewhere packing on the pounds for the coming rut. Calling may work for you at the end of the month. Weather is gonna be a big factor as well.

Learn to call, that is the most valuable weapon when moose hunting. Its easier than you think, and you don't need to master it, simply do the best you can, it will usually suffice. Also read a great article today in BC Outdoors about rattling for moose. I will definitely be trying this on one of my moose hunts. Pick a spot by a swamp or marsh, get there before light, call every 15 min for a while...be patient.

1) Find moose

2) Shoot moose

Then the work begins. But seriously get some maps of the area you want to hunt, locate swamps, ponds, marsh, water ways. Get some videos on calling moose.
Most of all have fun and take lots of pictures.

I had the same draw last season 3 of us went in on the draw and we got 2 tags. We went up on the 9th and started hunting on the open we were there 4 days. Day 1 spike bull. Day 2 4x4 mulie. Day 3 4x3 Mulie. Day 4 3x3 moose. That was a great trip 4 days 4 animals. It also helps if you have a cabin and know the area. Have a check around crystal and bridge lake ;)

Moose hunting is like looking for cattle, there's one. Driving along on a moosey back road and bam, there's two moose, one's a bull. This type of thing.
Might think there's no moose here, then BAM! Right on the side of the road moving along. You have to be looking and paying attention as you drive along, the driver looking and the passenger looking.
Some fellas say they get the moose about ten thirty in the morning in the fall.
Some hunt in the morning or take a canoe down the back of a small lake where no road access is possible. POW!
Jel .. Moose are where you find them .. usually in the willows and deciduous trees ..

Think sexy when calling in and around the moose rut.

as far as calling goes like it has been said it will be better towards the edn of the month. i would stick to mostly cow calls and maybe some bull grunts if thats not bringing them in. if you get one coming in do not go towards it. let it come to you and be patient. dont call your brains out, call once and let him grunt away for 3 - 5 min and unless hes leaving dont call again for atleast 3 min. once he gets within 50-100yrds when your calling turn around or call back over your shoulder so it sounds like your farther away. if your raking an antler or shoulder blade dont smash it around madly as this might intimidate bulls especialy in the early rut. run it slowly and gently against trees and through brush. they will hear it trust me. good luck on your hunt.

The way I judge moose hunting spots is ..
... should be above 4000 feet level on a flat bench with lots of shoulder high shrubs and willow, aspen etc.
... some yellow knee high grass around the area with some little water ponds.
... should be some good well used moose trails crossing roads at some points along.
... Moose tracks in the mud and dirt
... Spruce tree elevation with some spruce trees in the marshy moose meadows
... Trembling aspen with bright yellow leaves shaking in the wind
... moose calls being heard by you back in the creek areas means they are there
... saw moose there before
... creeks, marshy meadows, swamps, rivers, lakes and along and just inside edges of openings
... hunt moose rut (peak) ...... Sept 23 rd .... to .... October 9th .... rut crazed
jel ( Twig Eater ) .. Moose ..... black stumps on stilts lol ... oowhah oowhah wahh
every time he steps it's a wha, he's a big BULL lookin 4 luv or a fight 2 git it right..

I found what helps is treat every day like it's your first day in there. Don't get down after 3 or 4 days if your not seeing animals, keep at it until the last hour of the last day of the hunt. If the weathers warm, hunt at first light and until the last minute of daylight! I glassed a swamp on the 120 road up Pink Mnt one year, no moose. I poured a coffee and glassed again, a log in the swamp moved! I glassed and it was the nose and head of a Cow! Her and two other Cows were laying in the swamp with just there noses and ears above water! So, the point is, never give up and you'll go home with a Moose in the truck! Good Luck!

I compiled all the tips from the site I could find into one thread. Worth a read through. Called my first 3 moose in using it. End of sept is best for calling, however I called 2 in on the 15th and 17th. So it is possible.

When you go out looking for moose, you go to a proven spot, one that is known locally as a producer of successful moose sightings.
A place that will give you a chance to get a shot at a valid moose.
Ask anyone in the know who will help you to find a spot, on this huntingbc site, locals, bio's, co's and hunters you talk to. Some will help and some won't but use the local sporting good stores also and ask them as you purchase an item from them, they will point you in the right direction to start in that mu.

Have any of you guys used the can and string call? A guy was telling me all about it sounds easy, just wondering if anyone has tried it and if it worked.

Sprinkle "Cow-in-Heat" on partners pack. Follow behind partner about a 100 yds. Now the important part! Shoot moose before he gets partner!!!

Moose are curious with what's going on in the rut, a dance hall of characters.
Making sounds from deep within, moans and grunts and calling like a baby crying for a calf in distress. A sucker call, brings all the moose a looking.
If you see a yearling size moose standing in the bush and he or she won't move and you can't see the head, make a quiet passionate cow call but turn your head away from the moose so the call sounds farther away and duller. The moose will move towards you, maybe offering a look to see a spike/fork during the rut tho.
sept 15th to October 20 then pritty dead after that. Peak from Sept 23rd to Oct 9th
Jel .. Come here moosey .. hey come on over big guy I got something for you?
A nosler lol.

A bull moose can scare the bejabbers out of a hunter when he stumbles across one up close and personal, WHOA!
When you can't get to the moose get the moose to come to you lol, calling.

Closer to the rut the better your odds will be. The rut for mature bulls is in full swing by the last week of Sept, younger bulls start earlier in the month and can be called in anytime during your draw but less odds of that happening then the last week of Sept. No matter how many days you can afford to go, make them the last ones of your draw date. eg you only have 7 days to hunt, go Sept 23-30.
