Just wondering who's out checking out new area or learning more about thier old ones? Trail cams are out? Post up some trail cam pics or sheds found. Been out scouting a new area for this fall and so far having great luck with it and learning lots about it.

Well there is another thread I started so I'll steal a couple pics from there. Found a brand new area that I'll be able to get to all season. Last year my main spot I couldnt get to within 7kms for the last few weeks of the season due to snow. This spot is above a very small cut(spotted a nice younger buck in velvet with very thick bases over a month ago in it). Then theres 300yrds of thick timber above the cut. Above the timber I found a plateau covered in real thick brush littered with rubs(rut hole), found a nice pair of sheds in it that are a few years old. Yesturday went out and hiked above the rut hole. Came across a few good trails and odd bed. Once I got to the top the moss covered rock bluffs were littered with beds and shit(new and old). Bedding area is on a south facing slope. While the rut hole is on a west facing slope. The small cut is on a north facing slope. There is a larger cut to the east that I imagine their browsing in now. However its easy to access so once the road hunters begin I think they'll vacate that cut. The smaller cut is very steep and hard to access, and is impossible to go through without the deer knowing your there. Going to move a trail cam or two between the bedding area and rut hole. Have one setup now to the north that I'll be moving. Have a couple pics of a doe from it but its only been up for a week. Wanna do a little more hiking and scouting to the south of the bedding area and rut hole. Hopefully find a couple more sheds and hopefully the trail cam starts producing some nice bucks pics once I move it.

Also put a cam up in a swamp that I always see a few does hanging out in. Saw a large very old buck near it a few weeks ago. Found some nice rubs in it awell.

An early season buck in the area. He was one of three. All the same age roughly, still young but good to know there in the area for in a few years.

By any chance are you walking into and up to the camera on the deer trail? If so the deer will avoid the trail if your scent is always on it. It'd be like hanging a treestrand for whitetails 4' from the trail their using and then you using their trail to get to and from your stand. Try getting to your cam without walking on or across the deer trail. I've recently started spraying down my cams once I touch them with a scent eliminating spray. May seem like over kill but I have had two pics of deer sniffing my cam this week. I try to stay off deer trails to get to my cam. I set up the camera 4-8' away and on a 45degree towards the trail.

Nice pics, went out this morning to move my camera closer to the bedding area I found the other day, followed a ridge up and just as I was getting to roughly 200-300yrds from where I was the other day I popped over the ridge. There was fresh crap every 2ft, and these. Large one is almost the size of a telephone pole, can still see the old shavings at the base of it.

Its hard to see, i couldnt get avery good pic of it. Theres one side rubbed more than the other and the smaller tree was rubbed more. Although I did get cougar pics about a km away in the spring

The "rubs" also only went about 3ft high also. I think a cat would go much higher

Well out in a new area this morning, a nice 4hr hike in the pouring rain. Found some nice area and a ridge of old growth to check out. Still lots of snow, saw this guy just below the snow level.
