My 15 year old son wants me to take him up to the 7-42 Zone A part of BC in september foe Elk or Moose. we've never been up this way. we have hunted mostly in 7-20 and 7-19 and a bit of 7-32. This will be his frist time hunting with his own gun, most years he was my trusty scout. I would like to make this happen for him to get his frist ever Elk or Moose. so if any one has any tips about roads and some place to start that would be awsome. I don't want to know your spot or anything, just want a few pointers please

try 7-48 to the North East of the Alaska hwy, not so scenic but good numbers of moose and elk, bear and wolf, and NOT so over hunted as 7-42,7-57 and 58,,

to 7-48, many oil and gas roads, and utilize portions of the Old Alaska hwy, about 8 or 10 km NE on Old Alaska Hwy from the turn off to your right at Trutch(old Alaska hwy intersects present Alaska hwy), hunt the cut lines to the north and north east,,,

you could go up a little futher and hunt west of prophet river store, you can access that country by going west off the alaska hyw just north of prophet river store.might get lucky with an elk first week of sept.decent bull moose numbers but look close at the head gear.lots of restrictions on antler configuration.

about 50-60 km north of bucking horse lodge there is a road off the highway to the west that will lead you into the minniker and prophet rivers if you keep poking around in there. I'm from up here and have been since the mid 70's, and if I were going on that hunt thats where I'd start. Have fun.
