Do you think this will be a keeper come fall?

Not sure the best way to post the pic.

Hard to tell with a 100 x 80 thumbnail size picture ;) You may want to fix that haha!

I would say a 5 forsure, maybe squeak out a 6. Definite bow material... specially for a January 17th bull in velvet!

I just set up my new trail cam for the first time last night and almost forgot to set the time and date. :)

That bull could definatley be a 6-spike soon...not a big one though

If he was a 5 in 2008, I would hope he may be a "Cracker" 6 point in 2011!

So not to hijack the thread but would you say its around half point growth right now? I seen three bulls while i was quadding yesterday all heavy and wide in appearence, one was a tall 4 point in velvet and the others were 3 points not quite as big? I was just told it's kind of a guessing game but half point growth would be around this time of year?

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I've had this camera out for two weeks and have had 6 different bulls come by but this was the biggest. Region 8 bulls.

don't they need to have 2 brow tines generally to make 6? I only see 1, I would say 5 spiker, but Im still learning about the elk so I could be way wrong

I check my cam about every 3 weeks. Ran into a stomper mulie that was already outside his ears, but I left my camera at home by mistake. Hopefully I'll have some picks to share in another couple weeks.

it looks like from the first picture that there are 2 brows and a third it just depends on how the tops grow off the main

the photos have 2008 on them, did you not program camera?
it looks like it will be a 5 but you might get luck and it could be a 6

This bull is going to be a 5 point if he was going to be a 6 point his antlers would have a thicker mass on top by now the picture shows small main beams on top.

I thought it looked liked there were 2 brows as well, but then in the 2nd picture it clearly shows IMO anyway that there is only 1 brow. I think its simply the angle that makes it look like there are 2 in pic #1

It clearly has 2 brows on each side plus the third. The second brow points away from the first, so its hiding behind the main beams in the second pic.

The picture was taken early june this year. He has two brow tines... can see them better in other pics.
