If you hit the same spot twice Id say your pretty consistent. Today I shot a robin hood when my 3rd arrow impacted my first. This has never happened to me before but it is pretty common, Ive seen it a time or two; however this time it was me behind the string.

Have you shot a robin hood before?

sorry to piss on your fireworks !
but a robinhood is when your next arrow hits your last arrow not your 3rd ARROW

Never shot a robin hood before. I aim each shot at a different spot on the target to avoid wasting a perfectly good and expensive arrow. :)

My second bow was very forgiving and easy to shoot accurately, definitely not a barn burner. Soon, I didn't shoot at the same 20 yd. target twice because of frequent arrow vane damage. Decided to shoot twice at a 30 yd. disc. and robin-hooded with the second arrow....there went 15 bucks, so from that day, many years ago, until now, I never shoot at the same target twice....not saying I'm that good, just saying "lesson learned" (Ya, I kept it as a souvenir)

If you want to get technical about it, it does not matter which arow you hit it with, but you do have to intentially do it. (just bugging you)

I have not done a legitimate robin hood (calling the shot) but I have gotten several unintentional. The first one is cool, the second still puts a smile on your face, but any thing after that just puts a smile on the face of your arrow supplier, you should see the smile on they'r face when they see you do it.

Congrats on the robin hood, it means that you are shooting some very good groups.

It's always nice to get that first "Robin Hood". I had my first hanging on the wall for a few months. But, as has been said - it gets expensive. I was shooting Easton Fat Boys at the time - ruined the QAD nock, the collar, the arrow, the fletching, and lost the point as well. Total write off. The stricking arrow developed some stress fractures and I had to retire it too.

I make sure to shoot at different spots on the target when I shoot less than 30 yards now.

Hang it on your wall - both as a trophy and as a reminder not to do it again!

I have shot my arrows before but not got them stuck in. That was only at 10 yards though. Just picked up a new PSE stinger 3g and need to get out and practice a bit with it. Nice shooting though.

I have had several. 3 in aluminum and 4 in carbon. 1st and 2nd arrows in the carbon and one in aluminum. The rest in aluminum were "flock" hoods. Broken twice as many by kissing the nocks. Have Robin hooded another shooters arrow during 3D and have been robin hooded myself by others 2x. Shat happens.

These I did while practicing for Seniors games summer of 2012. Was at 30 meters so I thought I was safe with the first one.

I only had seven of these particular CX 400's left so I broke out the new dozen of GoldTips 7595 and went to 40 meters after a quick paper tune check.. 1st and 2nd arrows again..

You learn to hate that sound. I now only shoot dots. One arrow per dot. Not that I'm good... just cheap

Sixty Yard Three Round "Group":

First flight of the custom arrows I had built. Lesson learned! Do NOT shoot at the same bullseye with any Excalibur product at ANY range!

You get crap when you post something that has been posted before. You get crap when your spelling is bad, you get crap when you disagree. Might as well add crap when reviving an old post..
Who really cares? don't like... don't read.. Thanks for contributing!

I've done three over the years. The first was back in my target recurve days (alluminum arrows). I did it in the shop here at home one day then started shooting each arrow at a different spot. The last was the most fun, at a 3D shoot. The guy has a real good sense of humor and says "I finally get one good shot and look what they do to me".

Like them? LOVE Them!!!

I did a LOT of homework on crossbow arrows after I acquired the ExoMax - wanted something to truly bring out the capabilities of the bow. There's a fellow named "Big John" on the Excalibur Forum who makes Custom Arrows specifically designed for Your Bow and Your Shooting Conditions. He had received many many endorsements on that site, and was Highly Recommended by several of my Mentors into crossbow shooting.

So, I sent him the information he required, and the wait wasn't nearly as long as I had thought it would be. The arrows he provided were based on a Gold Tip Laser II blank, all just a smidge over 265 grains (with a + or - ratio of much less than a grain!), aluminum backs & brass fronts for increased FOC, 2" Blaser Vanes with right helical and 6 degree offset. Perfectly designed for the ExoMax, and guaranteed to spin absolutely true well out past fifty yards!!
In a word: AWESOME!! http://forum.flybc.ca/style_emoticons/default/happydance.gif

Although the stock Firebolts shot fairly decent from my bow, these Big John Custom Jobs were a MAJOR Improvement in downrange Accuracy, especially at longer ranges. I have not given them a test flight beyond 60 yards thus far, but expect to be incorporating an HHA Optimizer and 50mm Rifle scope to the set-up over the winter to do just that. Strongly suspect they will fly True out to 90 yards or so (target shooting Ladz, not contemplating shooting at game that far).

The results at 60 yards were overwhelming! So much so that I NEVER aim at the same point of impact at any range any more:

The only thing I can add at this point, is if anyone ever asks me how those Big John arrows fly, my answer will have to be... Well... they spin pretty damn true out beyond fifty yards... http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll pass along Big John's contact information. His prices are also a pleasant surprise - not much above what one would pay for standard stock from your local archery shop!
HIGHLY Recommended!!

Cheers,
Nog

Ya I've done it twice at 22 yards with my crossbow, both times split the other arrows straight down the middle...
