My first day off and there was some pretty nice weather. The oldest -coming up to 4 yrs- has been itching to get and and fish/camp. We caught 2 fish with her last year but that wasn't good enough, she needed it to be on her rod.....so I didn't even touch my fishing rod tonight. i just loaded hers up and we went out to nancy green. But first the necessary stop at Tim Hortons in Castlegar.

Well thank goodness the fish there were biting. i think the first 2 casts were able to get some nibbles and the 3rd one caught this whopper!

She was so excited. I think it was all of 9" but she didn't care...it was her first fish! She reeled it in with me helping her hold the rod. We managed to get another but it was way smaller. She didn't fuss when she was told that we had to put it back.

On the way back we saw these.

It was a great trip. First thing she told mommy was " I won and Daddy lost...he didn't get a fish". Thats gratitude for you eh?

What a lunker! She looks proud as punch! That's great that she's already getting the itch for the outdoors at that age.

I did just the same with my daughter (who is also turning 4) the other day on the Columbia River. She was pumped to reel in her first fish, which was about an 11" Kokanee. I will never forget that day and how happy she was....a memory to last a lifetime.
