Just got back from Chetwynd. In our group of 12, we got 10 moose. Four the first day, two the second, and four the third. Too much moose to handle. I did not see much hunters this year. Did anyone else here go up? We were the group of "Toyotas" in Hasler Valley and around westside Moberly Lake. Pictures are on the way

We went out the valley yesterday to get skunked on Sockeye:mad::mad: but did see many a hunting rig returning from up north, hard to tell if the had good luck but it sounds like the odds are pretty good. I have to wait till October to hopefully get my buddy into his first Moose.

Any info on the elk situation up that way? Loading up the gear and a couple of horses and heading out around the middle of Sept.

Took a moose in the area 2 years ago but I want to concentrate on elk this trip as I have yet to bag one.

Thanks
Rod

Are you concerned with such a large group you will reduce you odds for next year?

We have been going there since 94. We never had a "reduced odds" year and this year, we never saw a single cow. lt seems our area has more bulls than cows. Every year has been successful. Back in 2003, we were able to pull out 5 bulls in a week. Our average kills is 4 per year in that area, dating back to 1994. This year was good because of the offset week where most hunters would go up the second week, just to get in a full week of hunting. We always have a month off so we have the full advantage of the hunt. Very low pressure is also key and you must be ready to hike and hunt the alpine. We've studied this area for a long time and having the opportunity to do early scouting also played a role in helping out in our success.

I always belived an area only held so many bulls per season. I hope It treats you well for years to come!
