There's a large population in region 5 of predators. We saw very little game on our 2009-10 hunt

Yes,last time we were in and around the Gang Ranch and down towards the Churn Creek plateau, near the blackwater lake area, wolves everywhere. They were even hanging all year around Gaspard lake and harrassing the cattle.Had the 7 mm on a large one,but the beef cattle were in the background,no shot.I don't think it is entirely the deer and moose populations the Gov is concerned about.I think it is a lot of cattlemen that are having losses.

Lots of wolves through from 150 mile to likely area as well. We hunted back in there a few years ago and they were like rats. Thick timber and brush so they're hard to see but if you do, wack'em.

It is about time, every where we go four wheeling in 512 and 513 we are seeing wolf tracks all over the place. There is way to many wolvies. We pack a rifel all the time but we never seem to see them.

So can you legally shoot a wolf and just leave it in the bush? Also do you need a tag for a wolf? (stupid question sorry). I would have no problem wacking a bunch of wolves but I do not know what I would do with them afterwards.

I can think of a good fur on the wall. Lots of bragging rights near your bar with your buddies

I have a moose draw for 5-12a. I am going to be spending 10 days there from oct 15th on. I may just have to put in some effort iin predator hunting. I have read the wolf trapping threads but does anyone have some pointers for actively trying to shoot a wolf.

Keep back from Little Red Riding Hood about 100 yards or so,eventually one will show up.

..or find a kill site and hang around it for a while, that works too.I've found they will come in late in the evening or if you can make your way to a kill site before dawn and setup. They just travel too much and fast sometimes to get a shot other than by chance.Fresh kill means they are around.

I am happy to finally see this reg change...a bit too late IMO but better late than never. I have a cabin near Lac La Hache and deer and moose sightings are not common, which is amazing once you have spent time there. I have spent literally hundreds of hours in the 'back 40" and have only ever seen a couple of 'wolfs". I would love to see a post from a local trapper or hunter who could give some advise on how to help cull the buggers. I know it is like emptying a bathtub with a spoon but at least a mid summer hunt could be in order.
