Looks like i will be heading up to tunkwa lake for the july long weekend. any tips for that lake never been before. will be a family trip with the little man.

It does get busy on the long weekends and the wind can be strong in the afternoon - but when it settles down in the evening and the trout start rising to caddis flies, it can be great fishing. Lots of places to fish - weedbeds, dropoffs, etc. I've had some incredible evenings flyfishing that lake.

I've done well slow-mooching a bloodworm on a sinking tip fly line. The larger fish tend to be muddy tasting as soon as the water warms.

lovac i'll be in the red grand cherokee 12' alum boat. i'm a new fly fisher so will try that and some trolling wedding bands and ford fenders

Seen some big fish caught on tiny Tom thumbs in that lake.

if your not having any luck on tunkwa head over to leighton, one of these lakes always seems to do better than the other.
