3-16 D Goat draw

Hey guys,

I drew one of the goat draws for 3-16 D and I will be scouting the area next week. The draw runs from September 1 to October 31. I have never hunted goat and I am just wondering what the best time of the season would be for me to hunt them. I mean for the condition of the cape and accessibility for weather and all that good stuff. I have topo maps of the area and some good guys on the site have given me some info but im just wondering timing now. any help would be great.

A few tips that helped me:

Goats have to drink, so look for travel patterns from the water to their rock hangouts
go on amazon and buy/read "a beast the color of winter", an amazing book on Mtn Goat behavior.
wind go up the mountain during the day, down in the evenings plan your stalk accordingly
big billies usually off by themselves
when it doubt, watch them urinate, ends the confusion ;)
hit them HARD and keep hitting them until they're down. they roll real easy....

a lot of great info on this site if you do a search, I'll see what else I can remember.... that book is the single best advice I can give. I'm hunting goat again this year, will be re-reading it.

Walk to the top of that trail in sec pic and duffy lake is what u see at bottom I love that trail spot them from boat launch below walk up kill your goat google map there's a trail take u rightto the top or bush wack whatever just have fun fun fun
