I am heading up for the week starting this Sunday. I was wondering if anyone else local to the lower mainland was also going and would like to carpool to save on fuel cost. Let me know. I plan to leave Sunday morning and return Saturday evening.

Please feel free to share any good stories you may have of dealing with Stan.

Thanks.

Stan is good friend, did his course a few years back with my wife and another couple. Good learning from Good People. Enjoy, he is the stuff BC can be proud of.

My dad did the course a few years back too (possible same time as you waistdeep) and we are renting horses off him this year for our caribou/moose hunt in Spatsizi this august. I've heard nothing but good things about him but have only ever talked on the phone with him myself.

Just finished the course, well worth the money. Stan is a great guy, very down to earth.

Just got back. Had a blast. Lots of fun and enjoyed learning a few things. I highly recommend this experience to anyone that has ever wanted to take horses backcountry.

I met Stan and bought his book. the problem is i leant it out and now have no copy and cant remember who i leant it to. pretty crazy story of what he endured on that trip. Also saw his record Stone Sheep taken with archery tackle as a full mount at his house.

Am I right in reading that it only cost $600 bucks? That looks like a pretty awesome thing to experience, mabee my birthday present to me next June hmmm.
There is an outfitter in the Carpenter lake area that offers 1, 2 and 3 week courses in outfitter training but is considerably more expensive, not sure what the difference is.

Bumping this thread to let everyone that is interested know that I have just finished reviewing the instructional video that Stan has been working on. It will soon be available through Blue Creek Outfitting and it contains a ton of information. It has much of the info contained in the course including the hitches, knots etc. I recommend it to anyone that will be working with horses in the future or that has taken the clinic and needs to brush up on what they learned.
