Hey bigneily,

I drew the same tag as you, as my second choice. Given the other tags I drew, I may not be able to make it out to fill this one. I hunted elk and deer in the area last year, so if you haven't been there before, PM me and I'll give you some info on the lay of the land.

Your frusteration is understandable but in his case it is a undersubscribed hunt so if you would have put in for that draw then you would have had the tag before him... you both would have got the draw.

The part that pisses me off is when you get someone that has no desire to hunt that area and pulls and authorization and it may be a high odds hunt... I have heard of that with the Rosie draw on the Coast. 100:1 AND THE GUY DID NOT GO...

The draw that I got 6-09

I know exactly what you mean. They really need to implement a point system, and make some of the draws once-in-a-lifetime (Roosevelt Elk comes to mind). I normally hunt every LEH I draw, but this year I drew Rosie elk, Ashnola sheep and shared moose in addition to my second choice goat tag. Given my limited vacation time it's unlikely I'll get to all of these (although I'll try). There's no way I'm sacrificing the elk or sheep tag, and the moose is a shared hunt with my dad and brother which will probably be the funnest hunt of the year. That means the goat tag probably gets sacrificed. At least it was a second choice draw, so I'm not depriving anyone else of their first choice draw.

So far we have 4 draws in 5-04 with a possibility of a fifth still between five guys. I will probably sacrifice my tag for the sake of the population if I can gt my buds on a billy or two.

I think what he is saying is that his group had more success than they imagined and he will make the decision not to take FIVE goats from the same area to conserve the numbers. Noble and intelligent if followed through with.

UUUUMMMMMM if you know anyhing, the gov. gives out tags to be used........ not looked at, They are the ones who decide what the part of the population can be harvested. We as resident hunters do not come close to harvesting our part of the allocation. We don't need people putting in for LEH tags they do not intend to use.

I did get 426B never been there so any info would be appreciated. I have to agree with some of the comments about the tag distribution. I had the Ashinola sheep hunt 15 years ago and have put in for it every year after with no luck. Perhaps with every tag you get drawn for your odds should go down for any more in the current year?

The HBC Saints rise again!!!!

Of course taking 5 out of a region is no big deal, but 5 guys taking 5 billies off the same hill? I'm not sure I would feel right doing that.

Please stop being so righteous everyone!! This is just a small flaw in a fair system.

.... oh and 4-25 for me!

I find it sad that I am even responding to this.

Like I previously mentioned, there are at least four tags in our group. We were not all expecting to get drawn. Since I have hunted goat a number of times before, I would rather see my brother and my friends tag one and I doubt we will run into four billies in the time we have available to hunt this year. If luck goes our way maybe I will get one too, but it is not high on my priority list given our circumstances. Gunner mentioned not wanting to take a large number of animals from the same small area and that is another concern I have. I put in for the same goat draw every year and have good success with it. I know reasonably well what the population is in the area and I don't want to be responsible for decimating it. The MoE is in charge of it, but I can also do what I think it right. As far as lots of people loving to have that tag, if there were the odds wouldn't be as low as they are.

I am sure there are anti-hunting tree huggers out there that took the CORE and got licenses just to put in for draws to eat up the tags. There should be a reg that if you draw twice in a row and dont hunt, and be able to prove you went then you cannot enter the leh for 3 years...just an idea that popped into my head as I was typing so dont bite my head off with the many ways it wouldnt work please.

Now in your next breath you will complain that the Gov doesn't have a clue on animal population in given areas and that their yearly limits and regulations are completely skewed. There needs to be some responsibility put on us to self conserve an area. PG is completely right. Im sure he could never have guessed they would all get a tag. But its a lottery system and thats how it works. Did you put in for that area? Im tired of all the whiners on this site. Call yourself a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance and go relax.

Drawing a LEH gives you the opportunity to HUNT for that animal. Doesn't mean you Have to harvest one. They give out Way more tags then the # of animals they expect to have harvested. Its the hunters choice to take an animal or not.

For those that got the 3-33D draws. the last I heard about that area was that those goats have lung and heart worms in the system. Not shure how the 2009 lillooet fir impacted the area but I did not see the goats in that area in 2010 along the eastern edge of the boat launch. Thos that got the texas creek area. there are considerabl grizzlies in that area. however there is a a mine access road that will take you up there. I am not sure if the gate is closed at the bottom but it might be. if it is. and you go past smile as you will be on camera. For those that have the downton creek area draws give me a PM and I can give you some nifo regarding access in that area. there area certain rd sections that have been deactivated compliments of the new licensee Aspen planers.
