OK, so the story is pretty simple...we left Quesnel on a suicide run to our hunting spot at around 4PM friday afternoon...got where we were going around 1:30 AM. Slept in the cab of the truck until 4:30 then went hunting. Saw various critters including some moose but all cows and calves. Got the quad stuck twice and had to winch it out....lots of fun. Around 9:30pm that night tired and delerious from lack of sleep we set up a tent and crash for the night. Sunday morning the alarm goes off at 5 AM and we break camp packing up the tent in record time. As we pull out from camp and just finish pouring a coffee Tank slams on the binders and yells...BULL!!!!...BIG BULL!!!!!......SHOOT HIM NOW!!!! so I hop out and nail him behind the shoulder with a broadside shot at around 200yds. He was close to the bush and an ugly looking pond so I hit him twice more and then finally put a mercy shot between his eyes when he was on the ground. For those that are interested the 165grain interbond out of my '06 performed even better than expected. My second shot was EXTREMELY quartered away and the bullet slid in just ahead of the back hip, travelled the entire length of the bull and busted out through the brisket. No bullets stayed in the moose.

here he is with me and then another pic with Tank

Nice bull. Looks like the velvet was just starting to come off one of his brow tines. Good way to start the season.

As posted in the picture sticky, here's my opening day bull. One shot with my 7mm and down it went. We all cut our tags in three days.

Just got back from up north, our party of three took a nice two by three meat bull (moose) and a six point elk, the bull elk was in a group of six with one other six and a five the rest were three or better, all legal this time of year, it was a great hunt my first by horse back, lots of work dealing with a string of horses and mules but a great time none the less, will post pics as soon as my wife gets home to help me out with it, hopefully I can figure out the video part as the bull elk is on video, looking forward to the rest of you guys sharing your pics as well

Deadog sounds like you had a great hunt. From your id here, Deadog, I'm wondering if you hunt the Dead Dog Creek area? Good luck with the video and pics I'd really like to see them and hopefully a little bit of a write up about it.

Ex-BC-Guide just got back from the Dawson/Stewart Lk area and the only bulls they saw were ones taken by other hunters. Fred

It was really warm up there, 25 to 29 celcius during the day. Although it coolled at night it got warm quickly and stayed that way till late at night. I was in that area and not that many bulls came out of the bush. I hunted hard for 3 days before I even saw a bull...

I'm ready, but I'm not so sure Dyanne is. I've been looking at more coolers for the season.

Ex talked to several people who got lucky. He heard personally of about 15 taken while he was there but he was not amoung the lucky ones. I guess dragging along an 11 year old and a loud talking chatterbox of a father didn't help! Fred
