I live right on a green belt in burnaby. There's a load of 'yotes here and they are pretty brave, I chased one down the road last night when I was walking. I want to try and scare them from coming around my back yard, and short of shooting them I can't think of anything, which wouldnt work cause I'm in the city.
Would wolf urine or cougar urine make them stay clear?

Tell the neighbours to stop letting their cats and small dogs out at night. Seriously.

cb longs, if you have a safe spot in your backyard to shoot. Not the best idea in a neigborhood.
Snares.....you never know what you'll get though.
kind of depends on your yard.
I know the #1 answer, but it's also not a great idea if there's kids and pets around.

Why not build a trap out of plywood? Still not the fix, they'll keep coming.

You have a bit of a problem there. The only reason they're hanging around is because there's food there. Whether it be dogs and cats, or just dog and cat food, or maybe garbage. To actually stop the problem, you'd have to educate your neighbors.
Good luck!

as much as i would like to use my bow on them i dont think that'l go over well. ive though about kill snares and it wouldnt be that bad of an idea as there is no access to the area where they would get set up except for the path i clear

Someone on the site is giving away a free Coonhound. That'll solve the problem right there.

"Drillbit" has your best option, like magpies, coyotes think they are smarter than everyone else, so harrassing them won't work, you have to take away the reason they frequent your area....food. Trapping animals like coyotes, squirrels, and raccoons normally is an exercise in frustration, because there are so many that will take their place, never mind the legality of it. I know, someone very close to me, won't say who, removed many raccoons by live trapping and there are still the same number in the neighbourhood because of a certain neighbour that keeps feeding them dispite being asked not to.

The predator urine wont work as there is no relationship between the yotes & theas predators . It wont work on deer eather if thay have never been in contact with predators
