Mid-Island salmon - I need some help

Anyone been out salmon fishing either from Nanimo/Gabriola or alternatively Port Alberni? I've got the opportunity to duck out for a session tomorrow so just looking for updates, tips, reports - any advice that might help me get a fish in the boat tomorrow.

I've studied lots, read the Prime Times, looked at the weather and Island Angler/Island Fisherman magazines but I'd rather hear it from you guys.

not much going on in any of those places atm. There are fish around but not "great" by any stretch. I have heard of socks getting caught at papermill dam though at high tide. Which is always a fun gong show!

Yeah, I read about Paper Mill Dam; looks and sounds to be far more effort than it is worth. Not my idea of a good days fishing at all.
