The smell of a coal fire burning in the stove or outside, from the chimney during winter. Not likely too many people can still have that experience, but it's from my childhood. A few years ago I dug up some old coal from the remains of a shed in Alberta, near where I was raised as a kid. Just for fun I burnt some of it in my old beach stove at the cabin. My hunting buddy, who grew up in Europe, was stunned when he smelled that strange odor, also from his childhood. It's not exactly a pleasant smell, but it is unique for sure!

That sweet fir smell in the trees, and then the smell of warming sage as the sun comes up, and the thermals come up the hill to meet you at treeline.
I also like fresh cut cedar, fresh cut grass, suntanned skin smell (esp when it's on a ht sun-bronzed gal)....ummm...long walks on the beach, puppy dogs and brown paper packages tied up with string.

Hate: F***ing clowns. and f***ing clown dolls.

The alpine after a hard frost. I think it is the aroma of decaying hellebore that fills the air. It is the signal that fall has arrived and hunting season is here!

The smell of blood on my hands on a cold fall morning.

While some might disagree with me on this one, I love the pungent rank smell of a rutted up muley buck.

I too am a sucker for western red cedar. I love sniffing the core after I age them.

I also love the smell of fresh dirt in the spring, especially after a long winter on the misery sticks.
