Found him sitting behind a bush 80 yards into a cut. I jumped up onto a stump to get a better look and let him have it. Ran into the cut and crossed a creek. Took me hour and a half to get him out. Was worth it though.

Im 6'4" and 300. The bear is 5'5" and im guesing 250-300. Was all i could do to roll it up onto the quad.

Thanks everyone. A couple of us are going to try our hands at tanning, i hope it turns out well. If it does he should make a nice rug. Ill post pics when its done but it wont be anytime soon. Im suprised by how clean he was. Not to much smell to him and it sure seems like the meat will work very well for smokies and pepperoni.

You might want to go get a black one this weekend and try your tanning on it. The chocolate one could be hard to replace if things didn't work out. Its a great color.
