Looking at options for lightweight back packing shelters. The bivy and siltarp just don't seem to cut it any more. So a tent or tipi. Pros/ cons of each, what is your prefered shelter?

if you search backpacking tents on here there's tons of info on tents,I've never used one myself for all my alpine hunting but have bought one(used online) Mountain Hardware Skyledge 3 and its 5lbs with the fly and footprint, going to give it a whirl this year.
Hilleberg,MHW,Integral Designs and many more lightweight tents have been mentioned/praised by Devilbear and bigwhitey(carl) as they seem to be very up on the lightweight/quality backpack gear.

Her you go, using the search feature I located a few threads for you to peruse. Most of the info you are looking for is in there.

I got the 7.5 Tipi this spring but haven't used it yet. I did set it up and has a lot of room. 4lbs 4oz.

Never, ever drink Hennessy in a hammock, you could spill some!

Seems many that try the hammocks like them, however I don't know that I'd buy one as it takes away the option of sleeping above treeline.
