Looking for a good taxidermist

Looking for a good reliable taxidermist to do a bear rug, any suggestions. My son shot his first bear, hide is salted, l have seen some work from some guys, but l am looking for a taxi who does good detail work.

Ray Wiens did mine, I like it. if you're in the valley take a look at his shop, he does a bang-up job.

Just out of curiosity guys, what would be a cost of tanning a bear hide at taxidermist shop? I am new to this sport so I need to get some info before getting the first one myself. Thanks for any input.

Ray is a guy that's finicky about details - I have personally seen him strip down a complete and finished mount, just because something was off by the tiniest of margins, leaving my jaw dropped on the floor. Over the years he's done several mounts for me which include a 1/2 body black bear, shoulder mulie, full body cougar and several european styled mounts. He also helped played a BIG hand in getting me an owl done up. Another worthy mention; he has three more mounts in wait for me - A rug plus two more full bodies.

IMNSHO his pricing is by far, fair. He's not the cheapest one out there and I honestly believe that he should be charging out more for his efforts in being one of the most expensive out there - The way I see it, his OCD's are my gain. :mrgreen:

If you're in the LML, go with Ray Wiens. He has a 6x6 Elk and a 4x4 Mulie on the Wall that are mine. GREAT detail work, and a fair price.
It's worth a trip to the shop just to see the OTHER Mulie on the wall.
Your jaw will drop.

Northern Wildlife designs in burns lake does nice work as well. I have a buddy that has had a 1/2 dozen mounts done, everything from Bison to bobcat. Daryn Eakin is his name.
