Finally my first big game animal. I loaded up and left town at 12:30 for an afternoon hunt up the coq. After gassing up and eating some lunch I got to my spot around 2:30. Unloaded the quad got about 1 km down the pipeline and I seen some movement about 4-500 yard away. Stopped pulled out the bino's yep bear. It was feeding out in a clearing off to the side of the pipeline, the wind was in my face, a creek between us he had no idea I was there. Watched him for about 15 min to see if there were any cubs and nothing. ( the last 3 bears I seen had cubs) Hoped off the quad walked down and crossed the creek snuck up to were I thuoght he was and nothing. Sat quietly trying to hear anything, couldn't hear anything just silent. I started to second guess were I thought he was. i started to creep out in the open and he walks out from behind a tree 30 yards in front of me, still no idea I was there. Turned broad side and bam 180gr 30-06 in the shoulder. He went down and got back up put another one in him and he was down less than 50 yards from were I first shot him. He went down in the middle of the pipeline so recovery was simple
Not a big guy at just under 5' but he will do for my first

Thanks guy's. I was sure glad he droped quick. I can see how people have trouble tracking bears. I put a good shot on him and there was not a drop of blood to follow.

No not core-locks. That winchester red box not sure of the bullet name. I haven't wieghed it yet but it performed great. the second shot was a pass though with a 2" exit and 2 broken ribs. I will use this bullet again. If I don't have any reloads handy
