My Dad has an older 18' starcraft and its great! On all the starcrafts I have seen the windshield is quite far forward which is really nice because it gives you lots of deck space for fishing.

I inherited a 1968 18 footer from my dad. IT fished the great lakes and from Sooke to Nootka. They are a great, well built platfrom. Light wieght, they are good on fuel. Mine had a 90 Mariner I put on it after the original 115 Johnson puked. Not meant for speed in rough water as they are pretty flat on the bottom for the most part. On good water, I got 42 MPH out of it. They are stable while trolling on the chuck and I used mine till it just plain wore out.
