I took this boar on Saturday at 33 yds (squares just over 6' with an 18 3/4" skull).

This is my first archery bear, and while far from my largest, undoubtedly the most memorable....I'm definately hooked on archery bruins!

Measurements are given once the bear is skinned, so squaring is the generally accepted way since you can make a hide wider or longer, but not both.

Measure across the front paws (I measure to toes, not the claws) and then tip of nose to base of tail.....then divide by two.

I'm digging the clothing and the Vias pattern....wore it for a 21km walk in the heat on Friday before a truck came along and picked us up, and it was comfortable (don't ask how we got stuck)!

I like the Merino as it doesn't stink like Poly Pro does after a good sweat.

What kind of setup were you using? Broadhead, bow lb, ect? How long was your shot? Did you have anyone backing you up with a rifle? Was there anyone with you at all? I'm curious bc I really want to try archery bear if I get the chance and am trying to learn as much as I can from others. Awsome job by the way!!

I'm shooting a 60lb Bowtech Admiral FLX with 100gr Montec CS broadheads.....shot was 33yds, and it was our annual bear camp, so there was always a rifle or two around.

Well, if you have a 5 ft bear (nose to tail) you grab the nose and have your buddy grab the tail, and then you STRETCH it out to 6ft and measure it. Then you grab the front paws and STRETCH it so that it measures 6ft. Then you divide by 2, come up with 6 and say my big ol bear squares 6 ft!

LOL!!!
