I don't work monday so I'm hoping to get out for a bear,I was wondering where I'd have a better shot,I was kind of thinking somewhere around either hope or squamish and what area of either location. Also a rifle friendly area would be preferable, this would be my first time going for a bear so any pointers would be nice also any reccomendations on gear. Thanks in advance.

Why don't you go and get a backroads map book and pick a suitable side road within the area suggested?.....drive around till you see a bear, make an ID on it being legal......and then shoot it.

I was planning on getting a book after work I just thought I'd ask so I have a general idea of where to start looking and go from there.

Nope, just thought maybe someone would have a little more useful suggestion than that, its kind of like sayting "there's deer in the forest",thanks to everyone else though.

You don't think that telling someone that the area they are interested in has lots of bears is useful? What more did you want? :?

This province is full of bears........you need only find a spot that's legal for you to be hunting and put the miles on - sooner or later you'll come across a shooter.

The best suggestion I can give you is, Stay out of the woods this weekend. Go next weekend and you and the bears will be by yoursleves.

You were told a general area, not like saying BC or Vancouver island, so not at all like saying there is deer in the forest. I can see people wanting to help you now LOL

Just wherever you end up, the drive home will be busier with all the people coming home from the long weekend.

I am up at sunshine valley doing some off roading, don't like to shot bears but there is one hanging around here nice looking too got within 40 feet of him and decided that was close enough, every road i've been on has good sign. Still snow in about 5k but the lower roads are good.

I once heard of a grizzly hunter in the anzac ( 7-23 ) covering himself in fish fertilizer , apperantly he saw some bears and took a nice boar griz at 5 yards I would'nt do it myself but it would probably work for blacks as well.

Check this thread out... http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?67240-scouting-north-of-PG these guys are scouting, I heard it works. I guess asking where to hunt on a thread is called "cyber scouting".
