We are going up to the 100 mile house area for hunting in the fall and would like to pick everyones brain on where the big mule deer are and any tips on how to bag one of these beauties! Last year we were successful on a doe draw and moose draw but didn't find too many big bucks. Lots of spikers and we saw one 3 point...not much else

i think the biggest one i've seen there in forest grove was a 5 pointer. last year the bucks were scarce in 100 mile ( atleast where i was hunting ). i usually hunt in forest grove, alot of backroads out that way. a few good roads up behind 103 mile also.

Big bucks are hard to find anywhere. The 100 mile local always get good bucks so they are there. You have to hunt the ugly, dont want to be there spots. I like to hunt the open country but I never find good bucks in the open.

You need to hike. My brother lives in 100 mile and he has some friends that always pull nice bucks out of knife creek. If you go there remember that it is a wintering grounds for the deer so dont go early.

The tobacco creek area is a good area to hunt. It's a little bit of a drive from 100 mile but there a nice deer in there.

There is no big bucks near 100 mile, just little ones haha......put your time in and you will find them. Remember, they don't get big from being stupid. Booner's come out of that country nearly every year.

Instead of picking people brains, why not pick up your boots and go for a scouting trip in the summer and see what you find. The deer are everywhere, you just need to know how to get to them. I've been going up to my dad's property regularly in the summer and in the fall. Wasn't until last year when I found a prime spot that I'm sure will produce "big bucks". Good luck......

Depending on where exactly you are around 100 mile you have to keep in mind that some areas have major migrations, when the snow starts to fly. The area I hunt is good early season but tapers off quickly as the deer move out to their wintering grounds.

thanks for all the advice......Mike_b, we have had a cabin at sheridan lake for 15 years now and i know that area inside and out....i have put my time in checking out the area. funny thing is, i just started hunting in the last 2 years. I have a lot to learn and if i can get some good advice from veteran hunters, i will take every bit and put it in my tool box. the biggest i have seen was a 4 x 4 taken out of that area last year. Lots of spikers but i want to leave them alone....there is not alot of elevation in that area and was unsure of wintering, and the migration around there. Last year i think i was spoiled for a first time out as my group draw had two moose and a 3 point taken out of there in 4 days. Thanks to all for all your input and i look forward to all your posts here!

Half the bucks in my gallery were shot in the 100 mile area, including 1 booner!

Early season, alot of deer tend to hug the alfalfa fields, come november theres a good influx of deer as deer migrate from east to west!
Big bucks rarely fall before november around there!

I've hunted the 100 mile area all my life and have pretty much taken a decent buck there every year but i've also only hunted one area though. Found a skull that scored over 200 there (pic in my avatar) so there are definately some big bucks around if you put the time in and find where the deer are. There are lots of clear cuts all around for early season to check out. Lots of good areas around canim lake, ruth lake, also interlakes area along with west of 100 mile too. Look on google earth and see what the country is like.
