Took my little guy out the other day for his 3rd birthday\ evening fishing trip. Well I did the cast'n and sett'n the hook but he did the crank'n and got them up to the boat for the lip'n. The Smallie was ~ 3lbs and the Largie was ~ 3.5.
Not a bad way to spend the evening.

Yep large and smallmouth bass... Salmon was great when I lived on the coast but when you live in the desert you need to do whats here. And lay'n chronies out kind of gets dull. This is WAY more fun. Can't wait till the water warms up some more so we can start fly fish'n for them.

We landed 7 bass in about 2 hours biggest being a shade under 5lbs. Finess fishing with tube jigs is a little difficult to teach a 3 year old, but he's into fight'n them! Probably going to be a few years before he can throw that new Abu bait caster too.

Way to go starting them young Shaker:cool:. Great way to spend the evening.

Last year we caught a few larger small mouth out of Westwood Lake here in Nanaimo. I had never tried eating them before and always released them because we were targeting trout. We pan fried them with an egg/milk wash with crushed corn flakes and they were delicious:-D!

Wow Nice bass!! Didn't realize there were Smallies in the Okanagan?? I usually do a trip down to Duck Lake near Creston for May Long weekend and always have a great time... I love fishing for bass, as they aren't afraid to take large eractic baits! Thanks for sharing!

I've seen pics of legit 6+ pound smallies in the OK. It's sure fun when they're aggressive but the waters still pretty cool, so down sizing and slowing down with jigs with the name of the game. Them bites were pretty soft too just that tell tale "tick".

My dad and I were slaying them in Osoyoos last year. Park the boat in the reeds and casting clouser minnows, we were catching them all day long. Great fight in those suckers!!

Thanks guys..... Don't tell anyone but they are incredable table fair! Beer batter, tarter sauce and more cold beer...mmmmm I don't typically keep many but these ones were definatly gett'n it.
