I wanted to know opinion on the Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullet ive heard good things and bad thing about this bullet. I shoot a 300 remington ulra mag.know the velocity at 100 yards is 2933fps and at 200yards it is 2727fps and the foot pounds of energy is 3438 at 100yards and 2971 at 200yards but what gets me is the thought of a threw and threw shot as the bullet does nto expand too well Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullet

you should read Gatehouse's post on how less accurate the barnes are!

I shoot 168 tsx in my 30.06
and will be buying the 300 x for my 45/70!!

very happy with them.

buy a box and you prob. won't go back.

They expand perfectly

They are one of the most accurate hutign bullets I've ever used.

I htink they are a perfect hunting bullet, especially for mixed bag hunting in B.C.

Ive loaded TSX in
- 25-06
- 25-284
- 260 Rem
- 7mm Rem Mag
- 30-06
- 338 Win Mag
- 416 Rem Mag

Seven rifles, and all of them shot it good enough that you could use it for hunting coyotes at long range.

They expand like designed (not a wide frontal area, which reduces penetration), they dont foul like the old X bullets, they're sleek, deadly, and are just plain cool. At their best in faster cartridges, but even in standard rounds they work awesome.

If you dont think that the TSX will work, well you better try some Ballistic Tips or something in that 300 Ultra.

I shot a black bear with a .338TSX this spring as wasn't that impressed. There seemed to be very little internal organ damage even though I found one the bullets mushroomed perfectly in the hide...I suspect at least one or two of the bullets didn't mushroom properly until they hit bone...

Of course, most people seem to have good luck with them...but those are just my personal experiences
