Hey all, I've only ever hunted east of the fraser canyon as i lived that way until now. I was wondering if anyone knows how far west you would find whitetails and/or mule deer.

I see that region three extends much further west into the gold bridge area north of pemberton. Does anyone know if this is due to the range of deer etc migrating in and out from eastern regions of that unit ?

thanks

Spoke to a few guys around pemberton and they never seen any whitetails. I think the GOS in 3-32 is partly the MOE pre-empting the WT migration west. There are some WT west of okanagan lake, but not easy to find unless you want to put in a lot of hours.

My older brother and his son were bear hunting at Loon Lake 3-30 (just north of Cache Crk) over the weekend and seen a whitetail in there, first one we've seen in there and been hunting there for 30 years.

Yes they made their appearance there about 3 years ago. There are only a couple places that I have seen them regularly. My dads been hunting there for 25+ years and said the same thing that they've never seen em before. He actually had a crack at a decent buck but missed!

My Wife and I saw a nice young whitetail buck up close north of Big Bar Lake 3 years ago in Sept. I've hunted and traveled all through the Clinton, Scotty Creek, Big Bar, Jesmond, and north areas for over 45 years, and that was the only positively identified white tail I've ever seen within that area.

Thier have been 3 or 4 WT positively identified in Goldbridge over the last 4 years. I believe two were harvested. One was a buck and one a doe. Personaly I have yet to see one but I suppose it is a matter of time. Most of the terrain is not prime WT territory mind you. My $.02

In Loon Lake(3-30) area, the WT have been in for awhile now, more like last 10yrs. All my time here, i've seen them gradually move in. In the 70mile area, lotsa whitetails. I see em regularly here. Up in the Bonaparte Lake area towards the buffalo farm in the back (3-29) lotsa WT's too. A few years ago, 2007ish??? I saw a few WT doe 2kms up Anderson Crk FSR(3-14)along the cliff area on Boston Bar side too. Never use to carry a WT tag but for a few years now, always have.

Shot him last year in 3-31. They are there, and im seeing more and more of them every season
My younger brother took a doe last year as well, i think they need to give out more WT doe tags
They are going to impact the moose & mule deer numbers if they keep invading habitats

wouldn't count on whitetails west of the fraser river, south of liloette, although i'm sure someone will say there are some there. mulies seem to start in the 2 MUs south of lilloette on the west side of the fraser.

white tails are definately encroachin into mulie habitat
