I am wondering if there are any restrictions on a Canadian citizen purchasing a crossbow in the US and then exporting it to Canada. Also, what would one expect from the CBSA when showing up at the border with the bow?

Thanks in advance.

Not as far as I know. As for the CBSA, just declare it. Unless it's a pistol style crossbow, which would be prohibited.

Only criteria it has to meet is

Size: Larger than 500 mm
Can't be fired /operated in one hand

You can have it packaged and sent in the mail. I bought a Horton 175 on ebay and had it mailed from California

i bring many bows across each year ... never had an issue except when shipping with UPS and their stoooopid brokerage fees ...as long as the crossbow is not prohibited you are good to go

No problems as they are not in the weapons category. I dont understand it, but I take advantage of it.
